Late-night comedian Stephen Colbert slammed the leftist mob that showed up at Fox News host Tucker Carlson’s home Wednesday night as displaying “monstrous cowardice” that should not be tolerated.“Fighting Tucker Carlson’s ideas is an American right,” the CBS host tweeted Thursday. “Targeting his home and terrorizing his family is an act of monstrous cowardice. Obviously don’t do this, but also, take no pleasure in it happening.“Feeding monsters just makes more monsters,” he added. The antifa group Smash Racism DC tweeted a video that showed the group protesting outside Mr. Carlson’s house, chanting, “Tucker Carlson, we will fight! We know where you sleep at night!”Mr. Carlson told Fox that his wife, who was home alone at the time, locked herself into a pantry and called police. He said the group eventually broke his oak door and one person mentioned a pipe bomb, USA Today reported.Washington’s Metropolitan Police Department are now investigating the incident as a possible hate crime, the AP reported.“Here’s the problem, I have four children,” Mr. Carlson told Fox. “I never thought twice about leaving them home alone, but this is the reaction because this group doesn’t like my TV show.”Smash Racism DC’s Twitter account has since been suspended and the video removed. Mr. Carlson said the activists published his address, as well as his brother’s and former college roommate’s addresses in since-deleted posts.Fox News called the group’s actions “reprehensible” and “unacceptable.”“We as a nation have become far too intolerant of different points of view,” Fox News President Jay Wallace and CEO Suzanne Scott wrote in a joint statement. “Recent events across our country clearly highlight the need for a more civil, respectful, and inclusive national conversation. Those of us in the media and in politics bear a special obligation to all Americans to find common ground.”Copyright © 2018 The Washington Times, LLC.
