Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa will be ‘reminded of the integrity and honesty’, the Championship club say.

A statement from the league leaders comes afterBielsa admitted sending a staff member to watch Derby County’s training session.

The coach also said it was his idea and that he didn’t ask anyone from the club’s permission.

Bielsa admitted to sending someone to watch Derby’s training session ahead of their league meeting

Leedscemented their place at the topof the Championship bybeating Frank Lampard’s Derby 2-0 at Elland Road.

A statementfrom the club read: “Following comments made by Marcelo Bielsa yesterday the club will look to work with our head coach and his staff to remind them of the integrity and honesty which are the foundations that Leeds United is built on.

“Our owner Andrea Radrizzani has met with Derby County’s owner Mel Morris to formally apologise for Marcelo’s actions.

“We will make no further comment on this matter.”

It isnot the first time Bielsa has played the spy gameeither and following the defeat to Leeds, Lampard revealed he was unimpressed.

“I don’t think that, at any level of sport, it’s right to send men to break into private property,” he said. “It’s a cultural thing but I was very surprised by it – and by the frank admission he’s done it before.

“Cheating is a big word but this is over the line. I spent 15 hours watching tapes of Leeds game this week and that’s what the best managers do. I was a fan of Bielsa’s from afar but I’d rather not coach than send people undercover on their hands and knees in the undergrowth.”
