Romelu Lukaku will reportedly miss both of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s first two matches as Manchester United caretaker manager.

The 45-year-old wasappointedas the club’s new boss on Wednesday followingJose Mourinho’s sackingthe day before.

Manchester United signed Romelu Lukaku as a £75m star striker in 2017

While the specific reason behind the Belgian striker’s absence is unknown,the Mailare reporting that he has spent this week on compassionate leave.

He is understood to be unlikely to return until December 30, ruling him out of United’s games against Cardiff and Huddersfield.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is the new caretaker boss at Old Trafford

In hisfirst interviewsince taking the reigns, Solskjaer told MUTV that he will be giving all of United’s players a fresh start upon his arrival.

“We have to rotate,” the United legend continued, “Everyone will get a chance. Everyone starts with a clean slate.
