The Reds romped to a 4-0 win at Bournemouth on Saturday, as the Brazilian picked up his 10th clean sheet of the season
Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson has set a new club record by becoming the first player in their history to avoid defeat in his opening 16 Premier League games – surpassing Javier Mascherano’s previous haul.
The Brazilian, a£67m signing from Romain the summer, has been an outstanding acquisition for the Reds – who remain unbeaten in the top flight.
The world’s most expensive goalkeeper has now written himself into the club’s record books – beating the previous record of 15 set by former midfielder Mascherano.
The versatile Argentine avoided defeat in his first 15 outings for the Reds, with seven of those coming at the end of the 2006-07 campaign.
And that run continued for a further eight games heading into the next season, which surprisingly came to an end when Reading beat the Reds 3-1 at the Madejski Stadium.
So far this seasonJurgen Klopp’smen boast the best defensive record in the English top-flight, with only six goals conceded.
And they secured another clean sheet on their most recent outing, as theythrashed Bournemouth 4-0at the Vitality Stadium on Saturday.
Alisson’s incredible Premier League season by numbers so far
The £67m Liverpool paid Roma for the Brazilian was a new world-record fee for a goalkeeper, comfortably surpassing the £35m Manchester City paid for Ederson.
And he’s proved so far that he was worth every single penny of that mega transfer fee with some quite stunning stats below!
Mohamed Salah was the star of the show as he netted a hat-trick, with James Milner also making his 500thappearance.
But Alisson’s notable landmark of his own was arguably the biggest talking point coming from the game.
The 26-year-old started off his Reds career as he meant to go on with three successive clean sheets, and like the Liverpool team, has continued to go from strength to strength.
After helping the Reds begin the campaign with six successive victories, he has played a leading role in them building on that momentum.
They lie one point ahead of title challengersManchester Cityat the summit ahead of their mouthwatering clash with Chelsea later today.
